A new law enacted in Delaware requires public reporting of HAIs by dialysis centers, freestanding surgical centers, and long-term care facilities. The law also requires doctors who treat an HAI related to a clinical procedure to inform the healthcare facility where the procedure was performed of the infection. Prior to passage of this law, Delaware required hospitals to report HAIs to the state Department of Health and Social Services.
