Sharon Williamson, MT(ASCP)SM, CIC, FAPIC has been employed by Texas Health Resources for the past 28 years and is currently the Infection Prevention Director for the healthcare system, including 14 acute care facilities. Prior to her current role, Sharon held several positions at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, including Infection Prevention Manager, Infection Prevention Surveillance Coordinator, Laboratory Quality and Safety Coordinator, and staff Microbiologist.

She is certified as both a Medical Technologist and Specialist in Microbiology by the American College of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). She is also certified in infection control and epidemiology by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) and, in 2016, received the Fellow of APIC designation. In 2013, she was recognized as a Who’s Who in Infection Prevention by Infection Control Today. Sharon has served on the APIC Board of Directors (2012-2013), Dallas/Ft. Worth APIC Chapter Secretary (2015), and member of APIC Education Committee (2016). She currently serves as the APIC Treasurer and participates on the Epi Intensive Revision team as well as being an APIC faculty member.
