The True Leader Senses and Transforms the Needs of Followers
Jean Przykucki, MSN, M. Ed., CIC
Audie L Murphy Memorial VA Hospital
Spring Branch, TX
Jean Przykucki is the deputy chief of infection control and education of the South Texas Veterans Healthcare System in San Antonio, Texas. In her role as an infection prevention educator, Jean has worked extensively in the field of emergency preparedness. Jean is a member of the Emergency Hospital Disaster Group (EHDC)—a group composed of representatives from 53 healthcare facilities across 22 south central Texas counties. In her work with the infection control subcommittee of the EHDC, Jean helped create templates to standardize infection prevention and control practices for emergency and disaster situations. Because of Jean’s work and the contributions of the infection control EHDG membership, the infection control staff in all 53 facilities have adopted an all hazards and template approach allowing them to prepare and successfully respond to bioterrorism, pandemic, and natural emergency events in their communities.
