Patricia Barnes

Patricia Barnes, RN, BSN, CIC
Decatur City Memorial Hospital
Greensburg, IN

Throughout her two decades of work in infection prevention, Patricia Barnes has been a major advocate of immunization both in her facility and in her community. In addition to overseeing the immunization clinic at Decatur City Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, Indiana, Patricia has established various community clinics for working adults and school children. Clinic hours extend into the evenings and weekends. The clinics provide much needed vaccines at a nominal cost to patients for influenza, measles, tetanus, pneumonia, shingles, and more. Patricia ensures that vaccinations received at the hospital and community clinics are entered into the state registry to keep patient records up to date. She also raises public awareness about the importance of vaccinations for children and adults by hosting a radio talk show twice a year and writing articles on the subject for the local newspaper.
