Dale Bratzler, DO, MPH, MACOI, FIDSA, has had a long history of working in the field of health care quality measurement, reporting, and improvement. Beginning in the mid-90s, he worked in the field of quality measurement in health care settings (both inpatient and ambulatory) as a contractor to the Medicare Program. It was during this work that he began working closely with the infection prevention and control community on national projects focused on improving the quality of care for pneumonia, improving rates of adult vaccination (in particular, influenza and pneumococcal vaccines) in ambulatory, hospital, and nursing home settings, and on prevention of surgical site infections (SSI). He has published extensively on these topics and lead or participated in the development of several national guidelines on SSI prevention.
Dale has worked very closely with many of the government agencies and professional and trade associations that APIC provides expertise to.
