Libby currently has her own Infection Control Consulting practice, IC Solutions, LLC, which celebrates 19 years in business this year. Her passion for Infection Prevention revolves around making a difference in patient care and engaging others to do so as well. She has worked in the field of Infection Prevention and Control for over 30 years with experience in all healthcare settings. Libby has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Medical University of SC, Charleston, SC, and has been continuously certified in infection control (CIC) since 1983.

Prior to consulting, Libby was Coordinator of Roper Healthcare System’s Infection Prevention program in Charleston, SC for 15 years. She has served as industry consultant to several large healthcare corporations. She is a member of APIC and AORN.

Libby has served APIC in many roles including President of her state chapter and served on many national APIC committees. In addition to teaching EPI Intensive, she has also been a frequent faculty member for EPI 101 (basic training), 102 (advanced), and APIC’s Ambulatory Surgery course. She has served as a speaker at APIC’s national conference and a speaker for AORN (The Association for periOperative Registered Nurses) and at numerous other state and national events. Libby has presented to such diverse groups as healthcare corporations and professional associations from state long term care associations, ambulatory surgery associations, and nephrology nurses associations to national AVA (Association for Vascular Access),ophthalmology associations, central service, and laundry associations. She is published in infection control and recently co-authored a chapter entitled “Meeting Infection Prevention and Control Challenges in Ambulatory Care Settings” in the APIC/Joint Commission Resources Infection Prevention and Control Workbook soon to be published. She is also the author of The Infection Prevention Handbook, published by HCPro. Libby has received awards from her chapter including Horizon Award (recognizing outstanding service and dedication to infection control) and the Blazing New Trails Award (for innovation, creativity, and commitment to education). She loves living in Charleston, SC, with her husband, Ron, and puppy dog, Willie.
