Deb has been an infection preventionist since 1986 and certified since 1994, working in both the acute care and outpatient arena.
She was one of the authors for the original 1999 APIC “Requirements for Infrastructure and Essential Activities of Infection Control and Epidemiology in Out-of Hospital Settings: A Consensus Panel Report.” This report set the stage to develop infection prevention strategies in ambulatory settings.
Locally, she has served on the Board of Directors and as President of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter. She worked on the CalAPIC Advanced Practice program as co-chair for eight years putting on a three day course for the advanced practitioner.
Deb has been a member of the Annual Conference Committee since 2011, serving as chair for the 2016 conference.
