Diane Dumigan, RN, BSN, CIC
New Haven, CT

Diane G. Dumigan is a graduate of both Fairleigh Dickinson and Southern Connecticut State Universities with an Associate and Bachelor degree in Nursing. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing. She worked in the Infection Prevention and Epidemiology Program at the Saint Raphael Campus of Yale-New Haven Hospital (formerly the Hospital of Saint Raphael) for 32 years, and recently retired to do consulting. Diane previously chaired the Infection Control Coordinators Conference of the Connecticut Hospital Association, and has served as President of the APIC-New England chapter. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the international APIC organization in 2008 and 2009. Currently she is the Chair of the APIC Member Services Committee and liaison to the APIC International Section. Diane has presented nationally and internationally, and authored several scientific abstracts and peer-reviewed journal articles on various topics such as hospital environmental cleaning and disinfection, influenza, hand hygiene, urinary tract infection reduction, and bloodstream infections. Diane and the Saint Raphael team worked with Dr. John M. Boyce. She was the facilitator of the hospital’s central line associated blood stream infection (CLABSI) reduction committee, which was the 2012 recipient of the first annual Partnership in Prevention Award presented jointly by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services(HHS), Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) for their work in achieving the greatest sustainable improvement towards eliminating healthcare-associated central line blood stream infections. As a consultant Diane has worked for Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Connecticut Department of Health.
