Marguerite (Marge) Griboggianis, BS, MPA, CIC

Marguerite Gribogiannis, SM(ASCP)MT,MPA,CIC is an Infection Preventionist at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. Focus of her infection prevention activities involve the following service lines in an acute care hospital setting: neuroscience, oncology, medical intensive care, rehabilitation and ancillary services. Special interest projects have included waterborne pathogen risk assessment, standardization of high level disinfection processes, multiple drug resistant organisms, endoscopy ISO 9001 quality management and various healthcare acquired infection prevention bundle initiatives.

She graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Biological Sciences and completed an internship in Medical Technology at Weiss Memorial Hospital. After her internship, Marguerite began her career in clinical Microbiology including areas of general bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, mycobacteriology and serology. In 1992, she completed a Masters of Public Health Administration from Roosevelt University in Chicago. In 1995, Marguerite made a career transition into Infection Control.

She was the Infection Control Coordinator at Grant Lincoln Park Hospital in Chicago prior to joining the Advocate Healthcare System. She has been certified in Infection Control since 1998. And also holds two board certifications from American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Medical Technologist and as a Special in Microbiology.

Marguerite has been an active member of both the Chicago Chapter of Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, and also the Illinois Society for Microbiology (ISM). She has served various positions in both organizations. Most recently as chair of the ISM Constitution and Bylaws Subcommittee, and as ISM Councilor. She has served on the Chicago APIC board as nominating committee member 2001-2002, recording secretary from 2005-2008 and is President for 2015.
