Ms. Cary is currently Assistant Vice President of Infection Prevention for the HealthONE/HCA Continental Division in Denver, Colorado where she has oversight of infection prevention programs for HCA facilities in the Denver metro area and Wichita, Kansas. Prior to moving to her current role, she worked at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children for almost 20 years as a Medical Technologist, Infection Preventionist, Manager of Infection Prevention and VP of Quality Management and Infection Prevention.

Katie is an active member of APIC both locally and nationally and has held several offices for the APIC Mile High Chapter. She served on the APIC Practice Guidance Committee and was a recipient of a 2017 APIC Heroes of Infection Prevention Award for leadership and advocacy in infection prevention.

Katie received her Master of Public Health Degree from Concordia University-Nebraska.  She is a board certified Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).  Katie earned her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology degree from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming.  She has been certified in infection control since 2011.
