FDA reports product recalls

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the following product recalls:

Mid Valley Pharmaceutical is recalling lots of Doctor Manzanilla Allergy & Decongestant Relief syrup and Doctor Manzanilla Cough & Cold due to potential contamination from Burkholderia cepacia. Read FDA safety alert.

Hospira is voluntarily recalling one lot of Vancomycin Hydrochloride for Injection, USP, 750 mg/vial (NDC 0409-6531-02) lot 632153A, to the hospital/retailer level. The recall was due to a confirmed customer report for the presence of particulate matter, confirmed as glass, within a single vial. Read FDA safety alert.

The FDA is alerting healthcare professionals and patients not to use alcohol pads or benzalkonium chloride antiseptic towelettes made by Foshan Flying Medical Products Co. Ltd., located in China, due to the lack of sterility assurance and other quality issues. These products, distributed by Total Resources International and Simple Diagnostics Inc. could cause infections. FDA has contacted Foshan about quality concerns but the company has not taken action to remove these products from the market. Read FDA safety alert.
