In compliance with federal law, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will increase penalties for violations beginning August 1, 2016. Maximum fines will increase by 78 percent, and then will be adjusted for inflation annually. The new penalties will be applied for citations issued after August 1 for violations occurring after November 2, 2015. This is the first increase in OSHA penalties in over 25 years.
