Event Description

In partnership with the Illinois Department of Public  Health, APIC is offering a complimentary three-day training course in infeciton prevention and control for healthcare workers in ambulatory surgical centers.

This novice level course, designed for infection preventionists with 0-3 years of experience, provides learning opportunities on how to develop an effective infection prevention program to protect patients and comply with accrediting and regulatory requirements through evidence-based best practices that reduce risk.

Key course content includes: regulations and other requirements affecting infection prevention and control programs, CMS survey tool, introuction to infection prevention and control, epidemiology of infectious diseases (chain of infection), employee health, surveillance, cleaning, sterilization and disinfection, and how to implement change in one’s own facility. Experienced faculty will facilitate learning through group activities, case studies, and lectures. Attendees are eligible to receive 20 CNEs.

Accreditation, CEUs and Evaluation:

The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (APIC) is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).

Learners who attend the in-person ASC 101 class will receive approximately 20 CEUs.

Course evaluations will be sent via an online link to the email address on file within 7 business days of the conclusion of the education program. Upon receipt, all evaluations must be completed within 30 days. After satisfying all evaluation requirements, a certificate of completion will be available to print and/or for your records indicating CEUs.

Accredited status does not imply endorsement by APIC or the American Nurses Credentialing Center of any commercial products displayed or discussed in conjunction with an educational activity.
