Chlamydia: What you need to know

Each month, the APIC Communications Committee updates the “Monthly alerts for consumers” page of APIC.org with consumer-focused infection prevention information. This page provides consumers with useful tips and information on their role in stopping the transmission of infection.

This month, Carol McLay, DrPH, RN, CIC, has created a consumer backgrounder on chlamydia. Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases (STD) in the United States, with 3 million infections occuring each year. This bacterial disease can infect the penis, vagina, anus, urethra, eye, or throat and may result in serious health problems.

Feel free to share and use this consumer-friendly, infection prevention material in your education efforts and sign up to receive these monthly updates via email.
