Coronavirus infection control guidance

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released Interim Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations for patients hospitalized with Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV).

CDC recommends standard, contact, and airborne precautions for management of hospitalized patients with known or suspected MERS-CoV infection. The CDC’s recommendations are consistent with those recommended for the coronavirus that caused severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

The CDC will reevaluate and update these recommendations as information becomes available. Although there are no reports of anyone in the U.S. who has been infected with novel coronavirus, the CDC will continue to investigate and provide information on its web page.
