President Nominates New FDA Administrator

The White House announced the nomination of Heidi Overton, MD to be the next administrator of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Dr. Overton would succeed Dr. Marty Makary, who resigned in May. Dr. Overton, who is board-certified in public health and general preventive medicine, is currently deputy director of the White House Domestic Policy Council. The nomination will need to be approved by the US Senate.
