The certificate series has the following elements:

• In-person event: EPI® 101 for LTC
  EPI® 101 for LTC takes the content from our full EPI 101 class and tailors it to the needs of the long-term care worker. The result is a 2-day class that teaches the building blocks of infection prevention and control knowledge.
• Online classes: 
  After taking EPI® 101, certificate learners spend time on a suite of online classes that build depth of knowledge on some topics (e.g., diseases that are important to know), cover specific concerns (e.g., employee health and vaccination of long-term care workers), and recent trends in long-term care (e.g., use of UV light in long-term care facilities).
• In-person event: EPI® 102 for LTC
  Like the EPI® 101 for LTC class, EPI® 102 for LTC tailors content from the full EPI® 102 class to the long-term care setting in an intense 2-day class that advances the infection prevention and control knowledge of attendees.
• Certificate exam: 
  After attending the two in-person classes and going through all the online education, you will take an exam that has questions from all the content. If you score 75% or better on the exam, you will earn the “APIC Certificate of Infection Prevention Training. (You will have three chances to score 75%.)

Accreditation, CEUs and Evaluation:

The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (APIC) is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).

Learners who attend the in-person EPI 101® for Long-Term Care and EPI 102® for Long-Term Care classes and complete all of the online education will receive between 35 – 40 CEUs.

Course evaluations will be sent via an online link to the email address on file within 7 business days of the conclusion of the education program. Upon receipt, all evaluations must be completed within 30 days. After satisfying all evaluation requirements, a certificate of completion will be available to print and/or for your records indicating CEUs.

Accredited status does not imply endorsement by APIC or the American Nurses Credentialing Center of any commercial products displayed or discussed in conjunction with an educational activity.
